The Internal Services Department (ISD) plays a major role in supporting all County of Los Angeles departments and commissions. With an annual budget of over $885 million and 2,162 budgeted positions along with over 5,120 contracted workers of varying professions in facilities management, information technology, environmental, administrative, purchasing and contracting, ISD's mission is to provide Speed, Reliability, & Value. Positions allocable to this class typically report to a Safety Officer and are responsible for the performance of delegated safety program functions. Work assignments may include work site or field safety inspections, conducting training in respiratory protection, hearing conservation, confined space procedures, Hazard Communications, CPR/First Aid, and other training as required. Incumbents must have well developed written and oral communication skills and knowledge of California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Regulations. These positions must also have the ability to observe, analyze and make recommendations for the correction of safety hazards.
