About The Position

The Safety, Health, Environmental and Security (SHE and Security) Manager at DSM in Freeport, TX is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations regarding safety, health, environmental, and security standards. This role involves setting the vision for safety at the site, tracking progress against milestones, and ensuring that SHE and security systems meet federal, state, and corporate requirements. The manager will also participate in leadership teams and contribute to the overall success of the site through collaboration and insight.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
• 8 to 10 years in a plant environment with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a process industry environment.
• Experience in supervising/managing direct reports and contractors.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating and working in a team environment.
• SHE or other operational experience in an industrial environment such as a chemical plant.
• Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management.
• Experience assessing operational risks.
• Knowledge of Behavioral Based Safety Programs (e.g., SafeStart).

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of RC 14001.
• Experience managing budgets, goals, and targets as well as tracking performance indicators.

Responsibilities

• Set and establish the vision for Safety (both occupational and process) at the Freeport site with multiple stakeholders.
• Share initiatives, timelines, and costs necessary to achieve the safety vision.
• Track progress against milestones for SHE and security initiatives.
• Ensure SHE and Security Systems meet Federal, State, and Corporate requirements.
• Plan and execute environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
• Obtain and maintain necessary SHE and Security-related operating permits for the Freeport site.
• Participate in Site Leadership Team and Invest / Improve Boards.
• Serve as OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) champion for the site for covered processes.
• Lead through closure of PSM corrective actions and ensure timely addressing of items.
• Lead or participate in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) for covered processes.
