About The Position

AECOM is seeking an entry-level Safety Health & Environmental Scientist for our Pittsburgh, PA office. The responsibilities of this position include environmental testing (asbestos, lead based paint), conducting site visits in varying weather conditions and environments to document site conditions, equipment, and structures. Preparation of written reports such as environmental test reports, health, and safety determinations, in accordance with federal, state, local and client requirements. Advising clients on implementing and interpreting regulations as they apply to operations. Conducting research and engaging other subject matter experts as needed. Corresponding with clients, subcontractors, and applicable regulatory agencies. Office tasks may include reviewing and interpreting data, preparing reports and work plans, and developing and implementing remedial strategies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related degree or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review

Nice To Haves

  • Able to efficiently assist on multiple projects with varying timelines
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, ISO)
  • Experience with construction safety is desired
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pennsylvania license for asbestos surveying preferred
  • Experience performing lead-based paint survey preferred
  • Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification or current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher preferred
