Join our Corporate Safety team as a Safety Engineering Intern and gain hands-on experience supporting safety compliance, process improvement, and risk reduction initiatives. In this role, you’ll assist with incident documentation, contribute to safety projects, and learn to use systems that track safety performance and compliance. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams while developing analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. This internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to safety engineering practices and prepare you for a future career transportation and/or the supply chain industry. Internship Overview: Paid internship that includes dedicated job training and learning opportunities Located at our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska (some remote and off-site opportunities may be available) Collaborative, inclusive work environment Real-world experience Paid housing/housing assistance may be available Responsibilities: Assist the Corporate Safety Quality Assurance team in evaluating safety processes and procedures. Participate in incident reviews, supporting documentation, root cause analysis, and compliance follow-up. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety-related projects that impact drivers, associates, and operational staff. Support updates to safety documentation, reference materials, and reporting requirements. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that align with federal and company safety standards. Work on workflow improvement initiatives aimed at reducing risk and increasing efficiency. Participate in continuous improvement projects, including system enhancements and training initiatives. Gain hands-on experience using safety management systems, Salesforce, Samsara Portal, Google Suite, and related tools. Apply organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills to review data, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats while collaborating with team members in a professional environment. Bring curiosity, adaptability, and an interest in workplace safety, compliance, supply chain, and/or transportation. Qualifications: Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Completion of introductory coursework in project management, engineering principles, or data analytics preferred.
