About The Position

You will be the Safety Engineer for our dynamic Environmental Safety and Health team that supports Ordnance operations across Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. Our team is responsible for protecting personnel and assets by ensuring ordnance operations meet the highest safety standards. What You Will Be Doing As the Safety Engineer you will be responsible for analyzing new processes and technologies, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to keep our workforce safe and compliant. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Review Manufacturing Process Plans for compliance with DOD, NFPA, OSHA, DCMA, ATF, and ANSI standards. Participate on design teams for advanced manufacturing and develop hazard analyses and risk assessments. Review ordnance testing procedures and support testing operations. Create and review explosives site plans and conduct incident investigations. Perform safety audits and drive continuous improvement of safety programs. Further Information About This Opportunity This position will be located in Orlando or Dallas. Discover more about our Orlando, Florida location. Discover more about our Dallas, Texas location. This position will require travel to support other Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control sites. Expect approximately 50 % work-related travel. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company‑sponsored interim secret clearance is required to start.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
  • Capability to acquire proficiency in all processes and procedures related to Explosive Safety and Process/System Safety Management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry and regulatory standards (NFPA, ANSI, OSHA, ATF and DOD)
  • Skill in collecting, analyzing, and presenting Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) metrics to stakeholders, offering insights and recommendations for enhancement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, productive relationships with customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Competence in reading, interpreting, and developing written instructions based on technical drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedule.
  • Ability to travel 50% to other MFC sites
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and must have at a minimum an interim Secret security clearance prior to start.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives CATF") background check to obtain approval to be an "employee possessor" (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Background working knowledge of Explosive Safety and Engineering practices.
  • Experience with robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of DoD.4145.26M Contractor Safety Manual.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, DOT, NFPA, ANSI and OSHA safety standards.
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency, Laser hazards.
