The primary responsibility of this role is to manage projects related to Electrification (Lithium-ion Battery) Thermal Risk Management implementation across North America. The primary area of focus will include monitoring electrification thermal risk activity across multiple stakeholder groups to ensure best practices for safety controls and adherence to the electrification readiness plan. What you’ll be doing Co-Lead regional electrification focused risk assessment programs and lithium-ion battery thermal hazard identification focused on team member safety Provide support for the Toyota Motor North America region working to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards related to lithium-ion batteries Partner with other divisions and departments to interpret and implement federal, state, and local safety regulations related to electrification thermal event prevention Develop, update, and maintain Toyota technical safety standards related to lithium-ion battery and thermal hazard identification and risk assessment Present electrification thermal risk management safety strategies and project status updates to leadership and executives Ability to work overtime as needed Ability to travel up to 25% domestic with possible international travel as needed What you bring Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Occupational Safety & Health, or a related engineering/technology field Experience directly related to managing battery safety/electrification thermal risk management programs At least 2 years in a role where battery safety/electrification responsibilities made up at least 50% of the professional duties Demonstrated foundational understanding of NFPA, ISO, IEC, UL, AIAG, and other relevant industry standards, acquired under the supervision of senior engineers and management Proven ability to handle projects involving critical thinking (kaizen), problem solving, data analysis, and verification Added bonus if you have Direct experience managing safety systems and implementing countermeasures for lithium-ion batteries Direct experience performing lithium-ion battery thermal hazards risk assessments Experience implementing safety through hierarchy of controls and design principles Knowledge and proficiency in functional safety systems related to electrification thermal risk management and/or new technologies Experience working in automotive manufacturing or engineering environments What We’ll Bring During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. Requirements
