About The Position

Works closely with site management team to effectively plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs that comply with all OSHA regulations ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions for all of the New Bern, NC facilities. · Establish and maintain up-to-date health and safety programs and services in accordance with approved standards and procedures, providing functional leadership to management in health and safety programs, activities, etc. · Act as a representative for the ISO 450001 and OSHAS 18001 system · Perform and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) · Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological workplace hazards · Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance · Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements are to OSHA standards · Report & review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections · Administer the required compliance reports to corporate and site management · Inform site management immediately, through established procedures, of any health or safety matters requiring a report to any government agency · Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations · Provide support and direction for factory safety committees · Support accident investigation, root cause analysis, maintain preventive & corrective action system · Identify and provide a mandatory safety training program for associates and contractors · Auditing and providing counsel on the health and safety performance of each component of the plant and keeping management informed through established procedures of such performance. · Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated · Confer with medical professionals to assess health risks and to develop ways to manage health issues and concerns · Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents · Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-Year College (Safety) - Required
  • 3-5 Years of Experience (Safety) - Required
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Certification - such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional) - a plus
