Requirements

  • This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.
  • Additionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room and other industrial spaces, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
  • Must be able wear PPE such as safety shoes, eye protection, fall protection.
  • Must be able to walk/stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (powered industrial trucks, building alarms).
  • Must be able to rapidly respond to emergencies.
  • Must be capable of assisting others during evacuations.
  • Must be able to see/recognize and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel 10% of time.
  • Communicate on Microsoft Teams on and off video.

Responsibilities

  • Position will report to the Arizona campuses EHS lead responsible for operations in Arizona.
  • Position will work closely with site management in RD&E and other EHS staff to drive environmental, safety and health programs, ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement.
  • Ensures proper investigations of accident / incidents conducted for EH&S events and drives corrective actions.
  • Act as liaison with regulatory authorities for safety requirements.
  • Track and trend EH&S related legislation and take appropriate action to comply with requirements.
  • Communicates EH&S issues to all necessary management and employees.
  • Generates necessary reports and documentation.
  • Lead the investigation into accidents and provide feedback to relevant parties for corrective action.
  • Review and report EH&S progress and performance for assigned site/function.
  • Ensures compliance with required codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Act as a liaison with local, regional, or federal regulatory authorities.
  • Manage metrics and reporting.
  • Oversees accident / incident investigations and analyzes pertinent data.
  • Documents results.
  • Performs a wide range of health and safety compliance duties including equipment and facility permitting, compliance auditing, management of change and chemical authorization approvals, record keeping and reporting, liaison with the local authorities.
  • Ensure environmental, health and safety programs and management systems are in place and effective to minimize the risks to employees, the environment and the community.
  • Ensures compliance with required health and safety, fire code and building codes, standards and regulations.
  • Act as a liaison with local, regional or federal regulatory authorities.
  • Ensures proper investigations of environmental, health and safety incidents conducted for EH&S events and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Review and report environmental, health and safety progress and performance for assigned site/function based on established EH&S metrics to site management.
  • Ensures that specific projects assigned are completed as planned to meet EH&S goals.
  • Provides management with updates and escalation on projects/programs.
  • Maintain communication channel with site/location functions.
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding environmental, health and safety issues
  • Provide technical guidance on environmental, health and safety issues to the site manufacturing and engineering organizations and contribute to the development of site-wide EH&S standards and procedures.
  • Participate in the emergency response team and may involve after hours response.
  • Develops and conducts employee EH&S training.
  • Conduct onsite inspections (labs, auxiliary equipment pads, cleanroom, office, etc.)
  • Familiar with Benchmark Gensuite for incident management, site compliance and regulatory tracking.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.
