About The Position

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Journeyman Systems Safety Engineer to provide technical and engineering support to the H-53 Heavy Lift Helicopter Program Office, PMA-261, at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will provide development and systems safety engineering support in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DoN), Naval Air Systems Command and MIL-STD-882 requirements. This position will provide support to ensure compliance with safety standards throughout the acquisition and sustainment lifecycle. The selected candidate will be responsible for not limited to: Integration of safety engineering requirements into the H-53 helicopter test, operations and sustainment activities. Perform and oversee safety analyses such as System Hazard Analyses (SHAs) and Operating & Support Hazard Analyses (O&HAs). Maintain and manage hazard tracking & documentation and ensure timely resolution of identified hazards. Prepare and present systems safety documentation, including Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), Hazard Logs and safety compliance and reporting. Advise leadership on risk management, system safety certification, and compliance with safety standards. Provide systems safety expertise during program reviews, systems engineering reviews and airworthiness reviews. Support Mishap Report Recommendations (MISREPs) and the development of MISREP corrective actions. Collaborate with Naval Safety Center, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), fleet stakeholders to address safety issues.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Must have experience with safety engineering
  • Understands the safety process, hazards documentation, safety regulations compliance and reporting
  • Understands what constitutes a hazard
  • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Must be a US Citizen
