About The Position

Big-D Construction has an opportunity for a Safety Engineer internship, and we are looking for a student who is eager to learn, grow, and make an impact on our safety culture. In this role, you'll work closely with our safety and project teams to help ensure our job sites are safe, compliant, and efficient. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world construction safety experience while contributing to meaningful projects. This internship is offered in our Idaho Falls, ID office.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented with a genuine interest in safety and construction
• Eager to learn, take initiative, and collaborate with others
• Ability to work on-site in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assist the Safety Engineer and Site Superintendent with daily safety inspections and audits
• Support the implementation and communication of safety policies and procedures
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses
• Help maintain safety documentation, incident reports, and compliance records
• Observe and assist in hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective actions
• Learn how to foster a proactive safety culture across diverse teams and project types
