About The Position

The Safety Director will serve as the strategic leader in the development, implementation, and management of the company’s comprehensive safety program. This role is accountable for overseeing safety compliance across all job sites in collaboration with our third-party safety compliance partners, and for advancing a scalable, proactive safety culture within the Operations team. The Safety Director will act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external safety partners to ensure alignment on safety objectives, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce jobsite incidents, and drive continuous improvement across all safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety , Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in construction, roofing, or industrial safety roles, including experience in a multi-site or regional leadership capacity.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations,safetymanagement systems, and fieldsafetypractices.
  • Experience managing external vendors or consultants, ideally in asafetyor compliance capacity.
  • Strong understanding of incident investigation techniques (e.g., root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and build relationships at all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to job sites (up to 50%).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Professional safety certification preferred (e.g., CSP, CHST, OHST, ASP).

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Safety Program Leadership: Lead the design, implementation, and scaling of the company’s safety management program in partnership with Operations and our third-party safety compliance partners. Align safety strategies with operational goals and evolving business needs, ensuring program scalability across multiple job sites and regions. Establish KPIs and leading indicators to monitor and improve safety performance.
  • Vendor Oversight and Collaboration: Conduct regular site visits to evaluate jobsite safety and reinforce compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards. Collaborate with field supervisors, foremen, and project management teams to proactively address safety risks. Support emergency response planning and readiness at all project locations.
  • Training, Coaching, and Safety Culture: Develop and oversee the delivery of safety training programs tailored to both leadership and field teams. Provide real-time coaching to frontline superintendents and field staff to ensure safety best practices are implemented effectively. Champion a safety-first culture by embedding safety leadership principles into daily operations.
  • Incident Prevention, Response, and Analysis: Support our safety consultants and site leaders in investigating workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries to identify root causes and recommend preventative measures . Analyze incident data to uncover trends and implement targeted risk mitigation strategies. Ensure all incident reports are complete, timely, and comply with applicable laws.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Maintain and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, manuals, and documentation. Assist in regulatory inspections and reporting, ensuring our safety consultants and field teams are prepared and compliant.
  • Collaboration with Risk Management: Partner closely with the Human Resources & Risk Management department on all matters related to incident reporting, claims management, and return-to-work processes. Provide safety insights and analytics to inform risk mitigation strategies and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Lead or support safety initiatives and cross-functional projects as they arise. Service as a subject matter expert (SME) forsafety-related questions and guidance across the organization.
