About The Position
The position involves providing strong leadership to over 2000 Steel Technologies teammates, focusing on achieving a goal of Zero Incidents. The role requires coaching, mentoring, and developing a diverse team of safety professionals and leaders, while also overseeing local safety technicians. Establishing high-quality relationships with site and department leadership, as well as top management, is essential to promote awareness of safety initiatives. The candidate will develop strategic plans in collaboration with plant leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. Additionally, the role includes developing safety policies and procedures related to ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and hazardous materials, while driving safety performance to meet Key Performance Indicators. Identifying and mitigating safety-related risks, establishing metrics to assess safety performance, and collaborating with various departments to embed safety considerations into business processes are key responsibilities. The candidate will also stay updated on safety trends and provide oversight for incident investigations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
