About The Position

The Safety Coordinator at Holtec Palisades will support the site leadership and management team in all Industrial Safety activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operations at the Palisades Nuclear Plant. This role is crucial as the plant is set to become the first nuclear power plant in the U.S. to restart after decommissioning. The Safety Coordinator will contribute to continuous improvement in safety practices and lead by example in implementing safety policies.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Industrial Safety, or a related technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 years in an Industrial Safety position implementing industrial safety improvements and managing industrial safety programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/ MiOSHA General Industry and Construction regulations as they apply to a power generation facility.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene practices that anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for environmental and physical hazards.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment and OSHA and NiOSH sampling protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint.

  • OSHA Outreach 30 Hour certification.
  • OSHA 510 Construction certification.
  • OSHA 511 General Industry certification.
  • Certification in Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) for asbestos identification.
  • Certification in Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Support Industrial Safety training needs, contract support, budget preparation, and oversight for departmental corrective action, training, and work activities.
  • Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement in Industrial Safety with a heavy emphasis on worker behavior.
  • Gather and trend industrial safety data, make recommendations and develop corrective actions to improve industrial safety performance.
  • Gather, formulate, and distribute relevant and required safety KPIs at the request of the leadership team.
  • Lead by example while professionally implementing OSHA/ MiOSHA and Holtec safety policies.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization as required.
