Major responsibilities include oversight of loss prevention and risk management, MSHA, OSHA, DOT compliance, job-site audits, injury / incident investigations, new hire safety orientations, continuous safety training and program implementation, worker’s compensation, general liability insurance claims and representing the company at various state and local organizations. Encourage continuous safety awareness and improvement. Training and Development: Plan, develop, and conduct safety training programs and orientations to educate employees and subcontractors on workplace health and safety practices, procedures, and regulatory compliance. Site Audits and Compliance: Conduct regular inspections and audits of project sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Document findings and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into all workplace incidents. Prepare comprehensive reports that identify root causes and recommend preventive measures. Maintain accurate records of incidents and follow-up actions. Claims and Risk Management: Collaborate with HR and insurance representatives to manage workers' compensation claims, assess risks, and implement strategies to minimize costs and ensure compliance. Contractor and Customer Safety Compliance: Work with subcontractors and clients to ensure all safety standards are met before and during operations. Provide safety resources, training, and support as needed. Regulatory and Policy Oversight: Evaluate and update the company’s safety program to reflect changes in federal, state, and local regulations. Serve as a technical resource on safety standards and best practices. Core Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of OSHA, state, and local safety regulation Experience conducting safety audits and inspections Skilled in leading safety training and orientations Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations Familiarity with workers’ compensation processes and reporting Strong organizational, reporting, and communication skills Proficiency in safety data documentation and analysis Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions Comfortable interacting with project managers, superintendents, and external partners Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Desired Qualifications: 1-3 years of Construction or Aggregate related safety and health experience. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred. Safety certifications are preferred. Must be willing to travel to various corporate locations and project sites. (no overnight stays) Physical & Mental Demands: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Frequent standing and walking required throughout a work shift Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands. Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet. Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally. Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather. Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing. Must be able to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height.
