About The Position

The Safety Coordinator at New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is responsible for providing safety oversight and expertise to implement and coordinate the safety and loss prevention program across NJR and its affiliated entities. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety policies, conducting safety audits, and training staff on safety protocols to foster a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or formalized training in OSHA or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in safety, workers comp, or motor vehicle accident claims.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and DOT inspection processes.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies and construction sites preferred.
  • Recognized safety certification from BCSP or equivalent desired.
  • Experience with respiratory protection and fit testing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in the natural gas industry and regulatory compliance is desired.
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7 and work weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior CDL license is a plus.
  • Experience in the natural gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop corporate health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct safety training classes, including OSHA mandatory training and defensive driving programs.
  • Manage fleet and driver safety to prevent collisions through training and accident investigations.
  • Conduct company safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and implement necessary changes.
  • Provide safety program support to various departments to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Review new safety regulations and implement changes for compliance.
  • Evaluate safety equipment and serve as an expert on its operation.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and accidents, ensuring timely resolution of deficiencies.
  • Provide OSHA compliant safety training in both classroom and hands-on settings.
  • Act as an advisor to committees assessing safety concerns in the field.
  • Participate in special projects and studies.
