About The Position

The Safety Compliance Manager is responsible for the successful development, implementation, continuous improvement, and ongoing support of Ecovyst’s sites in their implementation of Ecovyst’s occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and to assure compliance with Ecovyst’s requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or occupational health & safety preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years plant experience with a broad technical understanding of plant operations.
  • Minimum of 10 years HSE experience preferably in the refining or chemical industries.
  • Transportation Worker’s Identification Credentials (TWIC) required
  • Travel to plants/sites within North America. Travel estimated at 30%.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations relative to Occupational Health and Safety (US-OSHA 1910 & 1926 Standards)
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices (ASSE, NFPA, ANSI, FM, etc.)
  • Effective communication/inter-personal skills – able to inspire and encourage the use of best practices at plant sites, able to communicate with plant staff, management, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to plan/organize tasks and consistently produce results with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and understand the legal aspects of legislation and develop compliance programs to decrease facility health and safety liabilities and reduce environmental risks.
  • Works well under pressure – ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results.
  • Proven ability to influence operations and build consensus opinions. Strong leadership/change agency skills are necessary.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures corporate Health and Safety & policies and procedures are developed and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provides Management with regular reports on safety performance and the status of preventive and corrective actions.
  • Serve as a focal point for Occupational Health and Safety training issues in the organization.
  • Ensures site occupational Health and Safety Training Matrices are accurate and reflect the necessary training for compliance and employee competency.
  • Responsible for maintaining Ecovyst’s Occupational Health and Safety Learning Management System (LMS) via HSI. Provides current training documentation, develops new training programs, and evaluates each for effectiveness, success, and ROI.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to ensure the new hire occupational Health and Safety onboarding process meets company needs and is utilized across the organization. Audits the process as necessary to ensure conformance with company practice and for improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and assess future and current occupational Health and Safety training needs through job analysis, regulatory changes, and consultation with other managers.
  • Responsible for coordinating the PSM, RMP, CalARP and Ecovyst Principles Audits, ensuring audit schedules are developed, trained auditors are available and assigned, and timely audit reports are submitted.
  • Work with site leadership to ensure that appropriate Corrective Action Plans and Tracking are established post audit.
  • Ensures that Industrial Hygiene monitoring and Medical Surveillance programs are established, effective and audited on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the corporate Incident Reporting and Investigation process and procedures are established, maintained and effective.
  • Ensure a consistent methodology for incident investigation is established and used across the Company.
  • Provide/coordinate incident investigation and cause analysis training across the Company.
  • Develop and distribute periodic occupational Health and Safety Moments, H&S Focus Topics and other H&S Communications that serve as refresher and learning opportunities for the Company.
  • Responsible for maintaining the identified areas of the Corporate Health and Safety SharePoint sites including document libraries, folders, links, etc., ensuring they are up to date, contain accurate and useful information.
  • Work closely with and develop strong relationships with other Ecovyst HSES & PSM Directors and HS Specialists / field personnel.
