About The Position

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco or Los Angeles offices and will require you to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Grindr is looking for a Safety & Compliance Manager to lead Grindr's legal and regulatory compliance related to law enforcement requests and global online safety regulations. This role will work closely with our Legal, Customer Experience, and Government Affairs teams to manage two critical areas: responding to subpoenas, search warrants, and preservation requests; and ensuring compliance with a growing set of safety regulations, including the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), UK Online Safety Act (OSA), various U.S. state laws governing dating app safety, and Australia's Online Safety Code of Practice for Dating Apps.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, Legal Compliance, Law Enforcement Response, or Risk Management.
• Expertise in handling legal process requests and understanding of privacy laws.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to track user data metrics, identify trends, and generate insights for compliance reporting, including regulatory transparency obligations.
• Skilled at working with data to assess compliance risks, identify the types of information required for legal and regulatory requests, and support sound decision-making.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, proven effective partnerships across legal, technical, and customer-facing teams.
• Strong interest or passion in international safety and data protection laws.

Nice To Haves

• Experience at online dating companies or platform data governance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and refine compliance processes, balancing hands-on execution with strategic leadership of key initiatives while driving continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
• Manage the review and response to law enforcement data requests in line with legal and privacy obligations, including providing direction to the company's customer support team members.
• Lead, refine, and maintain internal law enforcement request protocols, documentation, and strategy.
• Ensure compliance with global safety regulations, by collaborating with Legal, Product, CX, Government Affairs, and Data teams.
• Support transparency reporting and regulatory filings.
• Engage with regulators, industry stakeholders, and other safety-related organizations, such as NCMEC and Technology Coalition, on safety and compliance matters.
