About The Position

The Safety Attendant at Novant Health is responsible for providing one-on-one observation of selected patients to identify potentially hazardous behaviors. This role is crucial in ensuring patient safety and involves reporting any needs or concerns to licensed nursing staff. The position emphasizes the importance of teamwork, diversity, and inclusion in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Previous hospital experience is preferred.
• De-Escalation Techniques certification within 90 days of employment is required.
• Life Support Responder certification within 90 days of employment is required.
• Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Training within 90 days after completion of De-Escalation Training is required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Knowledge of infection control guidelines, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one observation of selected patients to identify hazardous behaviors.
• Report needs and concerns to licensed nurses in accordance with facility policies.
