POSITION PURPOSE This position provides support to the Safety department staff. This includes administrative tasks, report preparation, data gathering and management of safety database systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Good computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous clerical experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Safety or related field
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies such as OSHA and/or EPA
  • Previous experience as an Administrative or Safety Assistant
  • Flexibility and willingness to constantly reassess priorities and troubleshoot
  • Enthusiastic and approachable demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain incident/accident files and report potential worker compensation cases to insurance carrier
  • Enter monthly OSHA training information into Maintenance Connection database and maintain all training documentation
  • Track and organize all Safety Management System Documents.
  • Assist the Training Specialist with scheduling required Safety training
  • Work with corporate personnel to post all safety documents in the appropriate location on company intranet.
  • Function as point of contact with Logical on the HAZMIN system for the facility Safety Data Sheets.
  • Be point of contact for general safety calls and inquiries from employees
  • Assist with New Hire Orientations - which includes classroom training
  • Distribution of PPE (proper protective equipment), assign & maintain both personal and uniform locker information
  • Assist with monthly Housekeeping Tours
  • Provide all levels of administrative support, including but not limited to composing letters, memos and other documents
  • Support security/medical staff administratively
  • Assist with monthly Random Drug testing
