About The Position

The Safety and Health Specialist II at HDR is responsible for implementing and reviewing site-specific safety plans and programs, supporting project managers in safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) requirements, and conducting audits and inspections. This role requires proficiency in SH&E training and regulatory codes, with a focus on fostering a safe work environment in both office and field settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field.
  • Certification in one or more SH&E fields such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), or equivalent SH&E Project/Program Management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
  • Team-oriented with proven oral and written skills to support company SH&E policy and procedural requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous SH&E work experience in construction, mining/tunneling, water infrastructure, DOT, Oil and Gas and/or A&E firm.
  • A minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate journeyman field proficiency in implementing and reviewing site-specific safety plans and programs.
  • Support and assist company's Project/Construction Managers in SH&E requirements.
  • Show proficiency in SH&E auditing and inspection protocols, behavior-based safety observation program implementation, and development and review of Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Be proficient in SH&E training and able to facilitate this training as required.
  • Display working knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state.
  • Understand all SH&E processes and procedures in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
