About The Position

As a Safety Analysis Engineering Intern, you will perform design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, in particular for Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA). You will report to the LOCA Integrated Services Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid, full-time hybrid summer position.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or nuclear engineering
  • Complete Sophomore year of college
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Responsibilities

  • Development and assessment of models and correlations for prediction of two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena
  • Use statistical techniques for performing realistic nuclear reactor safety analysis and development of analysis methodologies for design basis accidents
  • Cognizance of plant specific licensing basis, Analysis of Record, 50.46 reporting
  • Contact for plant-specific, LOCA specific inquiries from both internal and external customers
  • Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis
  • Communicate with responsible project manager nature and status of work projects
