About The Position

Care for our community, and your career. Performs a variety of supportive responsibilities to protect patients, visitors and staff from hazardous situations/conditions. Provides ancillary service support to the nursing staff. This is a non-stationary position with movement constantly throughout the unit. Must be able to detect, perceive, observe, inspect, identify safety risks continuously amongst patients and staff and to communicate and exchange accurate information concerning these risks.

Requirements

  • High school level of knowledge.
  • Behavior Management training required within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire/transfer.
  • Minimum one year experience working with persons suffering from mental illness, alcoholism, or substance abuse preferred.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Good organizational, priority setting, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and observant.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform supportive responsibilities to protect patients, visitors, and staff from hazardous situations.
  • Provide ancillary service support to the nursing staff.
  • Continuously detect, perceive, observe, inspect, and identify safety risks among patients and staff.
  • Communicate and exchange accurate information concerning safety risks.
  • Support the decisions of the treatment team.
  • Document patient observations accurately and legibly.
  • Recognize and intervene in potentially violent situations.
  • Move and lift supplies up to 75 pounds and safely transport patients.
