About The Position

Safety Management Group is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG seeks a Safety Advisor - Construction/Manufacturing in Aiken, SC. Travelers will be accepted for this role. The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change. This person will be responsible for implementing contractor safety management. This is a 12-24 month long project. The building is complete, they are now installing the interior equipment, cranes, etc. This person will oversee all contractor activity. Schedule is Monday - Friday. 40-45 hours per week.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of previous Construction Safety experience
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related fields preferred
  • Safety Program Development Experience
  • Demonstrated Safety Leadership
  • Technical Construction understanding
  • Ability to engage professionally with clients and contractors
  • Physical Demands of the job may include: Moving about long distances Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period Working in extreme weather Being exposed to loud noises Wearing personal protective gear correctly

Nice To Haves

  • BCSP Certifications is a plus: CSP, CHST

Responsibilities

  • Acquire expert knowledge of the Management Standard Construction & Installation Projects Design, Planning, & Management.
  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Actively participate in pre-bid, pre-construction, progress, owner, event review, safety teams, daily coordination, stand-down's, and other HSE related requests
  • Facilitates corrective measures were warranted
  • Represents the contractor or Owner in progress meetings
  • Verifies compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner or contractor
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Interact with craftspeople and promote a safe working culture
  • Documentation and Report preparation
  • Conducts Contractor program review
