About The Position

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Safety Administration Intern to support our national Health and Safety team. It is expected that the intern will work 40 hours per week but there may be occasional opportunities for overtime pay to meet deadlines. A successful candidate will have strong administrative skills (e.g., Microsoft suite, Share Point sites), a great attitude, and both a passion and some experience (coursework, fieldwork) in safety. This individual will have an important role in implementing and improving SWCA’s national safety program and activities. This internship will occur during the summer of 2026 (approximately June 1 – August 28). Individuals are highly preferred if they can participate in this internship through the end of August 2026. This is a paid, 40-hour per week internship. The preferred location for the intern is Phoenix, AZ, but highly qualified, remote (= distributed) individuals will also be considered. Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a community college, college, or university, pursuing a certificate of proficiency, Associates degree, or a Bachelor’s degree. Individuals who completed a bachelor’s degree within 12 months of May 1, 2026, will also be considered.
  • Applicants that are pursuing a master’s degree will also be considered. Ph.D. candidates are not eligible through this program.
  • Experience through academic coursework or other work experience with Environmental, Health and Safety procedures and best practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Strong SharePoint intranet design and SharePoint list skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Updating and revising the MySWCA Safety Site on SharePoint.
  • Support, develop and write companywide safety communications (e.g., Safety Tips and safety team meeting set up)
  • Third Party safety site support (Standard and Client Questionnaires)
  • Incident management and tracking support
  • Vehicle database maintenance
  • Compiling resources and updating tutorials and video trainings
  • Supporting Certificate of Insurance (COI) program
