About The Position

Kids In Crisis is Connecticut's ONLY free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter , crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families experiencing a wide range of crises, including homelessness, mental health, family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. REPORTS TO: Clinical Director Clinical Work: Comprehensive knowledge of strengths and challenges related to youth that have experienced variations of neglect and /or abuse, homelessness or other social issues. Implement and maintain a therapeutic residential living environment. Establish a therapeutic rapport with high risk and vulnerable youth Maintain client caseload of up to 12 children/adolescents and their families Provide individual, family, and group sessions Practical experience in providing crisis intervention and brief solution focused counseling. Assess client needs, develop treatment goals utilizing SMART service goals and interventions, make verbal and written clinical recommendations Collaborative discharge planning with families and service providers with connection by referral to community supports. Program Development and Community Collaboration Assist Clinical Director in oversight and implementation of residential program services Collaborate and coordinate case management referrals to services in the community Advocate for client's needs and maintain a strong and positive working relationship with guardians, school personnel, and local service providers. Administrative Collaborate with Clinical Director for implementation of changes in program development. Assist and support Clinical Director in supervision of clinical team. Contributing member of Residential Leadership Team and Multi-disciplinary team. Qualifications/Requirements MSW or related master's degree in counseling or human services is required. Minimum 3-5 years post-graduate experience with clinical assessments and crisis intervention Experience with individual, group, and family therapy preferred but not required. Knowledge of DSM - IV/V as it relates to early childhood and adolescents Working knowledge of common therapeutic modalities used with children across the developmental spectrum ( CBT, DBT ) Ability to work with multi-disciplinary team and knowledge of community resources a plus. Ability to make clinical decisions and provide leadership to Senior Counselors is necessary. Excellent verbal and written skills specifically diagnostic assessments and clinical recommendations . Requirements
