About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant. LSF is seeking a talented Safe Release Support Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others. Purpose and Impact: The Safe Release Support Specialist for the Safe Release Support Program, primary responsibility is to perform fingerprints for adult sponsors of unaccompanied minors, in order to safely place minors in their care. The Safe Release Support Specialist will help sponsors complete the paperwork necessary for the fingerprinting and perform the physical fingerprints.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent – required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in general administrative field, to include typing and/or keypunching data into a computer, monitoring data in paper and electronic format.
  • Bilingual required: English/Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Knowledge of internet-based database, email to scan and transmit data.
  • Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and develop logical conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to produce and interpret graphs, charts, spreadsheets and other mathematical reports.
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to be available on weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks, possess good organizational skills, communicate effectively with co-workers and the public, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail are required and the candidate must be able to meet designated deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Team player with co-workers and central service office staff.
  • Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check and drug screening prior to hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with sponsors, shelters, and LIRS to schedule fingerprint appointments for sponsors.
  • Completes paperwork accurately and in compliance with program standards.
  • Makes copies of required documents for client files.
  • Ensures that all files are accounted for and properly completed each month.
  • Ensures that items are filed in an organized manner for quick retrieval and reference.
  • Enters sponsors’ information accurately into the fingerprint database, conducts the digital fingerprints, and submits the completed information electronically.
  • Enters sponsor and minor information in the LIRS Children’s Services Case Management System (CSCMS)
  • Refers clients to Legal Orientation Program for Custodians of Unaccompanied Alien Children (LOPC).
  • Counsels sponsors on available resources in the area to assist with social support.
  • Maintains the Digital Fingerprint Machine through proper care and reporting of any technical issues.
  • Provides Program Director with accurate data to ensure timely completion of reports and informs about any issues related to the sponsors or equipment.
  • Reports patterns of problems or non-compliance to appropriate Program Director.
  • Complies with the “Rules of Behavior for the HHS Digital Fingerprinting System” and the “Safe Release Support Program Manual”.
  • Attends program trainings and conference calls.
  • Maintains confidentiality and appropriately handles sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet program needs
