About The Position

Manages the operations of a specific Aquatic Operations area within the Department including high complexity attraction(s) & provides direction/development to venue Supervisor(s), Assistant Managers and hourly Team Members. Works closely with the Assistant Director, Aquatic Operations to ensure that the department is meeting departmental standards for Guest & Team Member satisfaction and financial goals while maintaining the highest safety standards at all times. Establishes on going operational procedures, programs and goals for the department both short and long term.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred (Hospitality Management Degree).
  • 3+ years experience Lifeguarding and/or Aquatic Operations/Guest Services required.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and maintain Deep Water Lifeguard certification.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license required.
  • Must have knowledge of Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years water park operations experience preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all facets of a specific area within the aquatic operations department including safety/aquatic risk management, training, show quality, guest service standards, team member satisfaction, cleanliness, facility upkeep.
  • Partners with various departments such as Tech Services, EHS, Water Quality, Engineering etc. to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Responsible for the performance of hourly lifeguards and slide operators in addition to directly overseeing the respective assistant managers and supervisors of the department.
  • Manages the development of the aquatic supervisor and assistant manager team including training, coaching, and mentoring. Also responsible for hourly Lifeguards and slide operators by providing feedback on performance, giving direction on how to handle, solve and prevent situations and developing communication, decision making and reasoning skills.
  • Creates development plans, gives direction to Supervisors on administering memos and Team Member counselings. Ensures all Team Member schedules, performance appraisals and documentation is completed in a timely and consistent manner. Addresses Team Member situations as needed and collaborates with HR team when necessary for guidance.
  • Works closely with Talent Development on lifeguard audit program development and evaluation.
  • Manages both the Labor and Non-Labor budgets for the department while looking for ways to improve overall operational efficiency. Monitors and adjusts labor hours and budgets according to attendance levels, operating needs and other variables. Participates in business planning and ongoing department initiatives as well as works with the Finance team to develop the annual operating budgets.
  • Updates and enforces company policies and procedures as well as departmental training and safety. This includes developing, writing and updating operating and training manuals, producing spot talks, documenting and addressing infractions with salaried and hourly Team Members.
  • Responsible for providing park wide departmental duty manager coverage depending on schedule shift, for an assigned park. Duties will include responding to ride evacuations and incidents, down times and making the proper notifications including Senior Leadership.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
