About The Position

Axient is seeking a sUAS Pilot/Fabricator to join our team at The Dale Reed Subscale Flight Research Lab at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center located on Edwards AFB in California. This position is a full-time role that involves the integration, operation, and maintenance of a fleet of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) weighing up to 330 lbs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include developing operational checklists and procedures, conducting briefings, and obtaining airworthiness approvals. Additionally, the role encompasses the design and fabrication of parts and airframes, ensuring that all operations adhere to safety protocols and standards. As a sUAS Pilot, you will perform flight operations, provide support for these operations, and engage in engineering technical duties related to sUAS design, analysis, and engineering. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding an Associate's or Bachelor's degree. You will be expected to pilot remotely controlled or unmanned aircraft, ensuring safety during flight operations in both laboratory and field conditions. Your responsibilities will also include fabricating, integrating, testing, and maintaining subscale unmanned aircraft, as well as operating various types of UAS using hand control stations, ground stations, cockpits, or buddy box configurations. Experience with gas and turbine engine maintenance and operation is also essential.
