About The Position

The Russian Linguist/Translator at Leidos is responsible for accurately translating, interpreting, and transcribing materials related to national security. This role requires a high level of expertise in the Russian language, including the ability to capture nuances and cultural elements in translations. The linguist will work with both electronic and hard-copy formats and must possess strong English communication skills for report preparation. The position is integral to supporting the mission of the National Security Sector by providing essential language services.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent formal military training, or 8+ years of related work experience.
• Ability to pass a language test administered by Leidos or an accepted commercial testing vendor.
• Strong proficiency in the Russian language, including understanding of regional dialects.
• Excellent English-language verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience deployed as a linguist in contingency operations.
• Knowledge of the U.S. Intelligence Community, military, cryptologic, and law enforcement.
• Proficiency in multiple languages.

Responsibilities

• Accurately translate reports and texts in electronic and hard-copy formats, capturing intended implications and nuances.
• Interpret accurately, primarily through consecutive interpretation, with occasional simultaneous interpretation as needed.
• Review audio or internet materials and transcribe them with a high degree of accuracy and expression.
• Prepare reports using excellent English-language written communication skills.
