About The Position

The mission of Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response ® (STAR ® ) is to support survivors of sexual trauma, improve systems response, and create social change to end sexual violence. Position Summary: The Rural Response Coordinator performs a variety of duties involved in providing support and advocacy for the rights and protection of rural survivors of sexual trauma. The primary duties of this position include building and maintaining community partnerships, conducting outreach in new service parishes, providing accompaniment and follow up services to survivors of sexual trauma, program coordination, and assisting with program reports. Classification: 40 hours/week (Full-time/Exempt) Reports to: Director of Survivor Services Supervises : Part-time Response Advocates Location : Varies; required weekly travel throughout Central Louisiana Position Duties The Rural Response Coordinator supports the rural program for STAR. Responsibilities

  • Building Relationships Establish partnerships with local law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, faith-based organizations, and other community stakeholders.
  • Host community meetings and attend local events to build STAR's presence and trust within rural communities.
  • Develop and maintain a directory of local resources and contacts relevant to survivor services.
  • Assess service gaps and barriers faced by survivors in each rural parish.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from survivors, partners, and community members to inform program development.
  • Conducting Outreach and Education: Organize and facilitate presentations, workshops, and training sessions to increase awareness about sexual trauma and STAR's services.
  • Distribute informational materials and resources tailored to each parish's needs.
  • Survivor Accompaniment and Follow Up Respond to hospital and/or law enforcement call-outs during business and after hours, providing support and accompaniment to survivors in medical and/or legal settings.
  • Ensure all accompaniments are documented and follow-up support is provided.
  • Contact survivor with 2 business days of initial accompaniment to provide additional resources and support.
  • Conduct safety planning with survivors.
  • Make referrals, either internally to STAR or externally to community partners, based on survivor's needs.
  • Documentation & File Management Record all survivor interactions and upload all documents to the organization's centralized database in a timely manner
  • Ensure that survivor files are complete, well-organized, and up-to-date
  • Grant Compliance Ensure completion of grant deliverables within required timelines.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant reports and documentation required by funders.
  • Coordinate activities to fulfill the requirements of the Rural Program Grant, including annual law enforcement training.
  • Other Responsibilities Clock in and out using the organization's timekeeping system
  • Submit monthly mileage and reimbursement documentation.
  • Attend staff meetings and maintain continuing education requirements.
  • Submit mandated reports to DCFS and law enforcement, as required by Louisiana law.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • STAR requires all employees to consent to and successfully complete a full background investigation, which includes a criminal history check and fingerprinting.
