There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) position at the United States Postal Service (USPS) involves the essential task of casing, delivering, and collecting mail along a designated rural route using a vehicle. This role is crucial as it represents USPS in the community, providing various services to customers along the route. The RCA is expected to work independently, primarily driving, and does not wear a uniform. The position requires flexibility, as the work schedule can fluctuate based on the needs of the USPS, and associates may be called upon to pick up work at other USPS locations within a 50-mile radius. Some offices may require RCAs to provide their own vehicle, for which an equipment allowance is provided in addition to the hourly wage. The job entails delivering mail and packages in all weather conditions, ensuring that customers receive their mail in a timely manner. The position is part-time or full-time, with pay starting at $20.38 per hour. New employees will receive paid training, and health benefits are available from the first day of employment. After one year, if certain requirements are met, employees can access USPS Federal Health Benefits (FEHB). Raises are determined based on route evaluations and cost of living adjustments as per the contract. Additionally, when a vacancy arises in the office, RCAs have the opportunity to bid for a career carrier position, which is awarded based on seniority and comes with a full benefits package.
