About The Position

Mount Holyoke College is seeking a passionate and experienced Rugby Club Coach to join our Student Involvement team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of our student-athletes, fostering their growth on and off the field within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience playing and/or coaching rugby.
  • In-depth knowledge of USA Rugby and NCR policies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
  • A genuine commitment to student-athletes, a passion for the game, and the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • A strong willingness and ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Availability to work weeknights and weekends.
  • A current and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver practices focused on fundamental techniques, strategic play, rules, conditioning, and safety.
  • Cultivate a culture of effort and commitment, while collaborating with student leadership to align coaching decisions with the club's student-governed structure.
  • Ensure all safety standards are met, and departmental and facility policies are strictly followed during practices and contests.
  • Attend all practices and contests, providing essential support to the team.
  • Work alongside student leaders to create an inclusive team environment that promotes the holistic growth of student-athletes as individuals, leaders, and athletes.
  • Champion a culture of health, well-being, and safety within the team.
  • Assist with competition scheduling and travel arrangements, coordinating closely with Athletics and Student Involvement.
  • Help enforce all Risk Management Policies and develop/implement essential safety procedures.
  • Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of all rugby equipment.
  • Keep up-to-date with USA Rugby and NCR rule changes, trends, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage team attendance and maintain accurate rosters.
  • Serve as the PE Club Course Instructor, certifying PE credits in partnership with the Assistant Athletic Director within registrar-defined timelines.
  • Complete any additional required trainings.
