About The Position

The RS Cabinet Maker I position at GAC St. Louis involves learning and performing basic skills related to the fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies. Under direct supervision, the role requires the use of design and engineering drawings to develop proficiency in cabinet making. The position is essential for those looking to progress to a technician level by developing technical competency and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment preferred.
• Completion of Technical Certificate in cabinet making preferred.
• Completion of current year youth apprenticeship program in area of expertise preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be computer literate.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Learn entry-level technical skills and knowledge related to aircraft cabinetmaking.
• Develop technical competency and problem-solving abilities.
• Use standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools, and materials to prepare and make furniture.
• Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off completed work.
• Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and use personal protective equipment.
• Ensure aircraft interior is protected.
• Assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
