About The Position

The RS Cabinet Maker I position at GAC St. Louis involves learning and performing basic skills related to the fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings. Under direct supervision, the candidate will develop technical competency and problem-solving abilities to progress to the technician level. The role requires compliance with safety and operating procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment to ensure the protection of aircraft interiors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment preferred.
• Completion of Technical Certificate in cabinet making preferred.
• Completion of current year youth apprenticeship program in area of expertise preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be computer literate.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Learn entry-level technical skills and knowledge related to aircraft cabinetmaking.
• Develop proficiency in the preparation and making of furniture using design/engineering drawings.
• Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand and track squawks.
• Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
