About The Position

The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs all modes of respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and medical conditions. Therapy is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by HCA Houston Medical Center. The Respiratory Care Practitioner works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and technology and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient. The Lead RRT may oversee other staff and assist the department management as directed. Also, identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services on an on-going basis.

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
  • Associate Degree

Responsibilities

  • Communicate verbally via telephone
  • Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
  • Communicate in written form
  • Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
  • Trouble-shoot medical equipment
  • Solve problems requiring interpretation
  • Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Make judgments to take action which could result in death of patient
