Great Routers are crucial to the US FOODS® team and one of the important faces of our organization. Our Router strives for integrity and reliability while building trust by working directly with Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery practicality. Main Ingredients of the Job! As a US FOODS® Router, you will be responsible for scheduling and sequencing routes in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using computerized programs ( Descartes ). These routes will be built cost-effective and will match maintaining customer needs. Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 12 PM - 9 PM PAY: $24.00 / Hour

Requirements

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma/ GED preferred
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
  • Must have computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, mainframe downloads.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
  • Possess ability to resolve a variety of issues of fairly non-routine nature with some independence.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and any required overtime.
  • Related Experience/Requirements: Prior router experience preferred
  • Computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design
  • Related Experience: A minimum of 2 years in related environment

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing specified software, route trucks by matching customer orders to appropriate loads assigned to trucks.
  • Utilizing specified software, balance loads per trailer by size and weight of product and pallets to be loaded.
  • Build cost-effective routes while maintaining customer needs.
  • Use Truck Builder software to layout and assemble each trailer.
  • Analyze the output to ensure that loads are built to maximize both safety and efficiency while loading and unloading product .
  • Respond to all driver concerns regarding loads built with Truck Builder.
  • Adjust loads as necessary to address concerns and maximize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
