About The Position

NASL is seeking a Routing Operator (BOF) who will be responsible for the programming, set-up, and operation the Homag BOF 311 router. They are responsible for achieving required quality and throughput standards. They are required to monitor production and adjust the machine as environmental and material changes take place. A Level 3 operator will be required to assist in training of lower-level operators.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
2+ years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting
Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
CAD/CAM Competency
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and production schedules
Basic math and measurement skills
Cooperative attitude and ability to group problem solve.
Stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive tasks
Work in warm environments non-air-conditioned environments
Ability to bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift

Nice To Haves

CAD/CAM Certificate preferred
Experience with engineered wood products, decorative papers, and adhesives is preferred

Responsibilities

Machine Operation
Set up, operate, and maintain equipment according to company and product specifications.
Lift and load material into the machine in proper orientation. Catch, stack, and package, finished product according to company standards.
Read and interpret routing print documentation, and JBA’s to ensure quality and processing standards are met.
Good understanding of CNC principles.
Ability to use CAD and CAM software to create product programs.
Ability to use and read calipers, micrometers, tape measure, and other gauges without error to maintain product specifications.
Ability to diagnose root cause of quality concerns and implement corrective action in real time.
Utilize company MES to access and record transactional information.
Perform basic housekeeping responsibilities, as well as basic preventative maintenance and inspections on the equipment and work area.
Quality Assurance
Perform incoming material inspection for non-conformances prior to machine set-up.
Review information on product requirements prior to operation.
Perform in-process inspections for dimensional and aesthetic non conformances. Record inspection results on quality run charts.
Follow Job Breakdown Analysis (JBA) and any other quality guidelines to ensure process and product quality.
Material Handling
Prepare and stage raw materials. Utilize jib crane in certain cases for oversized material.
Package, label, and stage finished goods for the next process or shipment according to company or customer standards
Minimize scrap and handle waste materials properly.
Return any surplus material to inventory location and record move in MES.
Safety & Maintenance
Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE use.
Keep work area clean and organized (5S standards).
Assist with basic maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
Participate in safety training and continuous improvement programs.
May perform other duties as assigned.
