About The Position

The Route Van Driver at Ridwell is responsible for picking up recyclable and reusable items from customers' doorsteps and delivering them to local partners. This full-time position requires effective communication, time management, and excellent customer service skills while operating a company-owned van. The role is integral to Ridwell's mission of reducing waste and empowering communities to recycle more effectively.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and follow written or oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must own and be able to use a smartphone and Google or Apple maps.
  • Ability to be on your feet or on a van route all day.
  • Ability to communicate effectively digitally over text message and email.
  • High school, GED, or equivalent diploma required.
  • Must complete a background and motor vehicle history check if offered the position (2 or fewer accidents in 3 years, No DUI or reckless driving in previous 5 years).
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Must have a valid Oregon driver's license for 3+ years.
  • Previous route-driving experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time to each stop on your route.
  • Follow instructions on the Ridwell fleet app for pickups.
  • Communicate discrepancies on pickups with driver support.
  • Manage time effectively and report delays in routes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Load and unload items into and out of the company-owned vans.
  • Deliver Ridwell bins and bags to new members' houses.
  • On-board new Ridwell members by explaining the service and answering questions.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
