About the position

The Route Utility Relief Driver at Alsco Uniforms plays a crucial role in supporting the Service Department by ensuring customer satisfaction through effective route management and superior service. This position involves covering routes, performing service-related tasks, and actively participating in customer engagement and sales activities. The driver is responsible for maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness while delivering and picking up textiles, ensuring timely service, and building strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities of a Route Sales Representative and related tasks.
• Learn and support all routes, running routes as needed for holidays, vacations, or other vacancies.
• Assist in rush deliveries, renewals, audits, training, and any other tasks assigned by supervision when not on a route.
• Solicit new customers, upsell/cross-sell/sample all service or product lines, and ensure a profitable product mix.
• Actively participate in promotions and contests, training, and audits.
• Follow company policies/procedures regarding new customers, managing customer needs, and all aspects of service.
• Ensure customer loyalty and outstanding customer service by building relationships and proactively resolving concerns.
• Safely operate a delivery vehicle on each trip, following all applicable laws and company policy.
• Handle and process customer payments and keep route paperwork current.
• Ensure timely and correct deliveries of complete textile loads, pick up soiled textiles, and maintain proper inventories in accounts.
• Monitor and report competitive activity and keep service agreements current.
• Return from route and offload soiled textiles in the facility's receiving area.
• Accurately prepare route paperwork and follow check-in procedures.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed by supervision.

Requirements

• Valid Drivers License, CDL when applicable, and be 21 years or older.
• Driving record free of chargeable accidents, speeding, safety, or other violations.
• Minimum one year experience of safe and successful driving.
• Excellent skills in customer service and route sales.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English, good time management skills, and a team player attitude.
• Ability to recognize colors, sizes, and types of products and perform basic arithmetic accurately.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the uniform and linen rental industry.
• Knowledge of local routes and customer locations.
