About The Position

The Procurement Truck Driver is responsible for but not limited to picking up raw frozen colostrum from our Dairy Farmers and safely delivering them to the local distribution center. Also responsible for, representing the company in a professional and cost-effective manner to increase customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 2+ years proven experience in truck driving preferred
  • Valid driving license
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
  • Skilled at driving vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for long periods of time
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with procurement supervisor, co-workers and dairy farms daily.
  • Transport finished goods and raw materials to and from local dairies and distribution centers as scheduled
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in truck and/or flatbed to prevent damage/injury
  • Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
  • Report defects, accidents or violations
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods)
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
  • Track and report working hours
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
  • Make safety a priority at all times
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Sterling Technology non-negotiables.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
