About The Position

The Roustabout position at Occidental Petroleum Corporation involves the operation of oil and gas wells to maximize revenue while minimizing costs. The ideal candidate will be coachable, motivated, and capable of performing various maintenance and operational tasks in the oilfield environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Some college or technical training is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer utilizing a MS Windows environment.
  • General mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Technical skills related to math and analytical processes.
  • Strong initiative and self-starter with multi-task orientation.
  • Understanding of business fundamentals and the importance of environmental and safe work practices.
  • General oilfield safety training, H2S certification, and First aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oilfield operations or related fields.
  • Familiarity with production accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of chemical programs and downhole failure monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure wells and equipment in assigned production area are operating correctly.
  • Recommend needed changes to improve production.
  • Maintain leases in an environmentally safe manner and report all leaks immediately.
  • Monitor leases daily and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ensure oil and gas is properly measured and sold to correct pipeline/truck specifications.
  • Gauge tanks, cut tanks, and ensure BS&W is acceptable.
  • Monitor gas meters and witness calibrations/sample testing when appropriate.
  • Manage LACT's start and stop monthly close outs & proving/calibration.
  • Report daily production promptly and accurately, comparing actual production to expected forecasts.
  • Work closely with production accounting group and review LOS Reports.
  • Monitor and maintain facility performance and review well failure reports.
  • Perform routine maintenance as needed and coordinate roustabout crew work.
  • Compile reports promptly, ensuring accuracy and track well failures.
