Skillforce is seeking Rough Carpenters for commercial construction projects near the Sterling, VA and Ashburn, VA areas. The ideal candidate ensures that all framing work meets safety standards and project specifications, contributing to the overall integrity and durability of the construction. Working closely with other construction professionals, this role requires precision, efficiency, and a strong understanding of construction methods. Ultimately, the Rough Carpenter helps transform architectural plans into tangible structures that serve as the backbone for finishing work and final installations. Pay: Starting at $24 Depending on Experience and skill set

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and dimensions of structures.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials to construct frameworks, walls, floors, and roofs.
  • Install temporary supports, braces, and scaffolding to ensure safety and structural stability during construction.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and supervisors to coordinate work and maintain project timelines.
  • Inspect and verify the quality of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and clean work areas, ensuring a safe and organized job site.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a rough carpenter or in a similar construction role.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in carpentry.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and building codes relevant to rough carpentry.
  • Certification in OSHA safety standards or equivalent safety training.
  • Experience working on residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to work at heights or in various weather conditions.
