Partner with the best As a Rotor Shop Machinist, you’ll support Rotor shop and Machine shop in Aldine/Westfield in running large CNC/Manual lathes, CNC/Manual VTL’s, and CNC/Manual Mills, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements for the Gas turbine, Steam turbine, and Aero components.

Requirements

  • Have High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate intermediate skill level (Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on at least two of three machines; Manual Lathe, CNC lathe, and VTLs.
  • Supporting Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs. Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.
  • Have ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines
  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Calculating and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Selecting, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
