Essential Functions As a rotational intern, you will be a part of the mission, cycling through five critical teams: Systems Engineering: Be the architect of the mission. You will focus on the "big picture," learning how our critical subsystems, like Radar, Telemetry, and Meteorological systems, work together to ensure mission success. You'll dive into the world of systems-level thinking, understanding the engineering process that governs how we execute changes across the entire range to ensure all parts function as one seamless system. Hardware/Software Engineering: Be a builder of the mission's future. You will get embedded with one of our expert sub-system engineering teams to focus on tangible upgrades. You'll learn how we execute the design process for specific components and get a front-row seat to how we integrate modernized, cutting-edge equipment and software into our operational environment. Range Systems: Get a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that powers launch day. You will learn how our expert teams prepare and maintain the systems that are the mission's backbone, from tracking vehicles with Radar and Telemetry systems, to understanding the crucial Communication networks. Range Operations: Observe mission control, the heart of space operations. You’ll be on the front lines during live launch operations, from the countdown through the flight, gaining a unique appreciation for the teamwork, processes, and split-second decision-making required to ensure mission success. Cybersecurity: Enter the digital battlefield to defend our nation’s space assets. You’ll learn to hunt for weaknesses by learning basic and intermediate vulnerability scanning capabilities across a variety of hardware and software platforms. You will then generate critical reports on your findings and help create the Plan of Actions & Milestones (POAM) that directs our remediation efforts. Collaborate with diverse teams on cross-functional projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
