About The Position

Rotary/Centrifugal Compressor Service Technologist Territory: Fredericksburg, Stafford, Williamsburg, and Petersburg, VA Ready to keep industry moving? Do you enjoy solving complex mechanical problems, working independently, and helping customers prevent downtime? If yes, this role is for you. Role snapshot Own field installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair for rotary screw, reciprocating, Centac, and ECC compressors plus dryers, filtration, and cooling components. Use precision diagnostic tools and OEM operations/parts manuals across multiple brands to pinpoint issues and execute fixes. Train customers, mentor service trainees, and support field sales with practical technical guidance. Independently assess problems, recommend actions, and deliver clear, timely written and/or oral reports to manufacturing. Operate with the highest integrity while maintaining excellent written and verbal communication. Submit legible, detailed service reports for billing purposes; manage weekly timecards and expenses accurately; responsibly manage company credit cards and vehicles (as assigned).

Requirements

  • 2–5 years repairing or troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems; exposure to compressed air, centrifugal technologies, and controls strongly preferred.
  • Experience with start-up and service of rotary and centrifugal compressors, dryers, cooling towers, and filtration is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with a clean driving record (no DUI in the previous 5 years; no hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving; and no pattern of smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the last 3 years).
  • Microsoft Office literacy and solid general computer skills.
  • Comfort with handheld/mobile devices (smartphone, iPad) and network-based tools.
  • Strong customer service orientation: communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Efficient, cost-aware travel habits.
  • Mechanical competency to learn, diagnose, and resolve compressor system issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Studies in Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with fundamentals in AC/DC circuits, schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity and controls, refrigeration systems, and/or refrigerant certification.
  • Military experience or equivalent mechanical background is valued.
  • We also welcome candidates with equivalent skills gained outside formal programs.
  • EPA 608 / F-GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE certification.
