About The Position

Responsible for management of the Regional Housing Department Office, evaluating regional housing needs and overseeing all rehabilitation projects, per NAHASDA, HUD, Citizen Potawatomi Nation (CPN) Housing Department policies and procedures, and management of the Regional Housing Department Office, including but not limited to moderate maintenance and tenant counseling.

  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Knowledge of NAHASDA and HUD regulations.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Housing Management.
  • Ability to interact with Tribal employees, Tribal members, vendors and the general public.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in federal, state, local, and city building and construction.
  • Basic knowledge of standard operation procedures for mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow guidelines as outlined by the CPN Housing Department Policies, CPN Administrative Policies, and NAHASDA regulations.
  • Obtain applicant documentation and determine eligibility of applicants according to NAHASDA and CPN Housing Department policies.
  • Manage affordable rental properties, collecting rent, taking applications, coordinating the move-ins and move-outs, initiating eviction procedures and counseling with late payers.
  • Ensure that tenants understand and fulfill their responsibilities and obligations to CPNHD, including submitting monthly payments in a timely fashion and timely completion of annual re-certifications and inspections.
  • Manage ancillary services and utilities, i.e., cable, security service, utility shut offs and transfers.
  • Prepare correspondence and maintain files and records (hard copy and digital) of all counseling sessions, mandatory counseling and court cases relative to non-compliance with the rental agreement, CPNHD policies, and NAHASDA regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate preventative and responsive maintenance activities including pest treatment plans.
  • Represents the Housing Department as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and makes recommendations to achieve realistic outcomes for elderly tenants.
  • Serve as the CPN Housing Department on-site representative.
  • Monitor and evaluate all development construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, city, and Tribal regulations.
  • Responsible for carrying out all other duties as assigned.
