About The Position

Are you a social worker or human services professional who's energized by direct community engagement? This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role rooted in the community. What You'll Actually Be Doing This role is active, dynamic, and deeply human. Your days will rarely look the same. • Valid driver's license and insurability under LRHA's vehicle plan (local travel is a regular part of this role)

Responsibilities

  • Meet residents where they are by conducting in-home visits, phone interviews, and one-on-one meetings to assess needs across areas like employment, finances, housing stability, childcare, and health
  • Develop individualized case plans that help residents identify their strengths, address barriers, and build toward economic independence and, where applicable, homeownership
  • Connect residents to real resources, making meaningful referrals to employment programs, financial literacy services, early childhood education, mental health support, and more
  • Build and sustain community partnerships with local nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, and service agencies to expand the resources available to residents
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, trainings, and community events on-site at LRHA properties and throughout the Lynchburg community
  • Support resident leadership by serving as an advisor and liaison to Resident Councils
  • Document and track your impact through accurate case notes, participation records, and grant reporting, ensuring program accountability and continuous improvement
  • Promote early childhood development by educating and connecting families with young children to appropriate learning and development resources
