About The Position

The Rope Access Technician is responsible for performing inspection, maintenance, and repair work at height using industrial rope access techniques. This role supports non-destructive testing (NDT) activities including ultrasonic thickness (UT), visual testing (VT), and other inspection methods. The technician will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and company procedures.

Requirements

  • For Level 1: Current SPRAT or IRATA Level 1 certification
  • Basic understanding of rope access techniques
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • For Level 2: Current SPRAT or IRATA Level 2 certification
  • Experience performing rope access work independently
  • Ability to rig systems and perform rescues under supervision
  • Previous industrial or inspection experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • NDT certifications such as: UT Thickness (UTT) certification Visual Testing (VT) certification
  • API certifications (e.g., API 510, 570, 653)
  • Additional NDT methods (MT, PT, RT) a plus
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • TWIC card (if applicable to job sites)
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform rope access work in accordance with SPRAT/IRATA standards and company safety policies
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on industrial structures (e.g., tanks, piping, stacks, offshore/onshore facilities)
  • Assist with or perform NDT inspections including: Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) measurements Visual Testing (VT)
  • Interpret and record inspection results accurately
  • Set up and inspect rope access systems and equipment
  • Maintain and inspect tools and safety gear
  • Follow all safety protocols, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and hazard assessments
  • Work effectively as part of a team under the supervision of a Level 3 (for Level 1/2 techs)
  • Travel to job sites as required
