About The Position

The American Roots Music Program (ARMP) student employee will assist the program with social media, promotion, artist hospitality, and residency operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of American Roots music is required
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated a must
  • Basic administrative skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Sheets, Drive, etc.)
  • Great organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor and comfortable working with high-profile Roots musicians
  • Basic video editing skills and familiarity with YouTube upload/distribution process
  • Knowledge and comfort with photography, editing, and distribution

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ARMP YouTube channel – editing, uploading, promoting videos of Roots performances, burning copies of discs as needed
  • Promotion – Designing posters for upcoming residencies, making copies as necessary and distributing them around campus.
  • Co-manage ARMP Facebook group and page with other ARMP student employees.
  • Post upcoming residencies and events on Berklee.edu Free Lesson Program – Manage and create signup sheets for the Free Lesson Program, sharing the links in our weekly newsletter, and sharing rosters with guest teaching artists.
  • Event Management Assistance – Assist Artistic and Managing Directors with management of concerts and events, including offsite performances at music festivals, and on-campus performances.
  • Student Employee will be given the opportunity to get hands-on experience organizing smaller events such as the Roots Roadshow and Squaredance.
  • Photography – Take photos of Roots recitals, workshops, lessons, and lectures. Post photos to Roots social media pages.
  • Artist Hospitality – Coordinate with other ARMP student employees to ensure outside visiting artists have everything they need including adequate copies of sheet music, stands, chairs, and campus map.
  • Act as host and area guide, if needed Work PFDV Performance Program Manager on obtaining signatures and approvals for visiting artists, concert venue rental, and auxiliary services arrangements
  • Other administrative duties as assigned
