About The Position

The Rooms Mechanic will maintain the guestrooms, public space, and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing electrical, air conditioning, painting, all covering, and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel. The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

Requirements

• Basic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry required
• Any combination of experience, or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment
• Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment
• considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Inspect guestrooms, public spaces, and back of the house areas to repair, touch up, or replaces light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous repairs
• Visually inspect and detect items needing repair
• Keep detailed records in English for logs and inspection sheets
• Maintain inventory of supplies as is needed to perform all job functions
• Report major repairs and items which cannot be repaired to the dispatcher for further action, and if necessary, to place a room out of order
• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
